One girl and two men died in what RCMP are calling water-related deaths in Humboldt Lake on Saturday afternoon.
Humboldt and Lanigan RCMP were called out to a home on Humboldt Lake just south of Humboldt at 2:20 p.m. on November 4th to assist Humboldt Fire Department and local EMS who responded to a report of numerous people falling through the ice into the lake.
Witnesses reported five people in the water. Emergency personnel saw three people in open water where the ice had broken through and they were recovered by firefighters. One woman and a female child were taken to hospital. A second female child was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The two others who had gone through the ice, which RCMP say were adult males, did not resurface. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team recovered both men, deceased, shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday. The RCMP say this is a sudden death investigation and as such no further details regarding names of the deceased or injured, will be released.
