A 45-year-old man is facing numerous charges after a traffic stop on Saturday. Officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team were conducting proactive patrols on Highway 40 outside of North Battleford. An officer conducted a traffic stop and noticed an open bottle of liquor. The occupants were arrested and RCMP report the vehicle was searched.
A semi-automatic handgun, about 56 grams of cocaine, cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized. The charges for Steven Nighttraveller from Little Pine First Nation include possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a restricted firearm without a license, possession of a firearm obtained by crime and unlicensed possession of a firearm with readily available ammunition. The other occupants were released without charge.
He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Monday.
