Dancing Sky Theatre’s latest production includes a lot of talk about Ukrainian food, which is apropos, because you have the option of having a Ukrainian-influenced dinner prior to the show. One of the performers, Kristel Harder, says the cast and crew wrote the play, Baba’s Magic Mitten. It’s about a grandma teaching her grandchild about love, family and tradition, but it also features the theatre troupe’s interpretation of the Ukrainian Folktale, Baba’s Magic Mitten which is about a mitten that gets lost in the snow and is found by a bunch of different animals who are trying to figure out how they can co-exist in the small space and share the resources with each other.
It’s what the theatre world would call a panto, which isn’t actually short for pantomime. Harder explains that panto is a British form of entertainment which is a performance for all ages and it’s always based on a folktale. This is the final week for the play which runs Thursday through Sunday December 17th. Click here for more information
