Several models of fireplace manufactured by CFM Inc., now Majestic Fireplace, are being recalled due to a malfunction with their relief dampers, causing excess gas to ignite and then explode the glass when the fireplace is lit.

Fireplaces impacted by the recall include both natural gas and propane-fired direct vent free-standing fireplaces with the name Insta-flame and Northern Flame.

Any affected fireplaces that are in use should have the fuel supply disconnected immediately. The manufacturer is no longer in business and there is no retro fit kit available, so fireplace owners should contact a licensed gas technician for disconnection.

Affected model numbers include: FSDV22, FSDV30, FSDV32, D222 and D232 Series. Only models with the letter “R” in the prefix are not included in this advisory.
