The Red, White and You comedy tour kicks off Friday night in Saskatoon at The Refinery. One of the troupe of five comedians, Dakota Ray Hebert, says they have all known each other for awhile, but decided to band together, write some sketches and tour North America. She hopes the show, which she describes as a mixture of stand-up, sketches and musical theatre, will expand their fanbase and create a road map for other comedians to follow, after forging their own path for making this show happen. Hebert jokes, “Everybody’s got a funny bone and we’re going to find it.” The ultimate goal is to pitch the show as a TV series.
From the troupe of five comedians, all from Saskatchewan, four are Indigenous. The show is described as a celebration of Indigenous comedy. Hebert is joined by her husband Dylan Jay Williamson, along with Ryan Moccasin and Danny Knight. Shawn Cuthand will join for the American leg of the tour which includes stops in Boston, New York and Los Angeles. For advance tickets, click here.
