Oral health providers can now confirm their participation in the new Canadian Dental Care Plan. A news release from the Government of Canada says by choosing to participate, dental health providers are playing an important role in advancing more equitable access to oral health care and towards improving health outcomes.
Since the launch of the Dental Care Plan in December, more than 1.3 million seniors have been deemed eligible. Applications are now open to seniors aged 70 and above.
Eligible seniors are starting to receive their personalized welcome packages from Sun Life, which includes a member card, coverage start date and information about what they can expect from the plan. Most services that are covered will be available this May. Before receiving care, people covered under the CDCP should always confirm with their provider what costs, if any, will not be covered by the CDCP.
