If the NDP wants to win the provincial election later this year, it will need to make a few inroads in rural Saskatchewan. The party currently has 14 sitting MLA’s, but none that represent a rural riding.
NDP leader Carla Beck spoke at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) annual convention in Regina on Wednesday afternoon and talked about the need for urban and rural areas to work together.
Beck spoke about challenges facing healthcare and education—-but did not mention the ongoing labor impasse between teachers and the Saskatchewan Party government. She also made it very clear that the provincial NDP does not support the federal carbon tax.
Beck says it is important for a government to deliver the best solutions for people, no matter where they live or who they voted for.
Premier Scott Moe will get his turn at the SARM convention on afternoon with a speech that will be followed by the cabinet bearpit session.
