Saskatoon Provincial Court judge Jane Wootten will give her decision on June 7th about whether a woman charged with exceeding the prescribed blood-drug concentration of THC causing death felt she had to tell police by law that she had used cannabis and microdosed on magic mushrooms the day before, or if she told officers freely.
On September 9th of 2021, 9-year-old Baeleigh Maurice was on her way to school on her scooter when she was hit by a truck while crossing at a marked intersection on 33rd Street. The defence raised the question of legality of whether Taylor Kennedy telling officers she had taken the drugs should be admissible in court.
After the decision June 7th, the trial will resume. The fatal accident happened in September of 2021 and Kennedy was charged in March of 2022.
