The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a dryer fire and a kitchen fire Monday afternoon. Fire crews were alerted to a kitchen fire in the 300 block of Central Avenue at 2 in the afternoon and when they arrived, they saw flames in the kitchen, when looking through a window. The fire was extinguished, and everyone got out safely.
Then, an hour later, the Fire Department responded to a dryer fire in the 500 block of 10th Street East. There was a fire in a basement which was contained to the dryer. A portable fire extinguisher was used and the dryer was moved to the backyard. This fire was also completely extinguished and there were no injuries reported.
It was just a week ago, around 10 last Monday night, there was a dryer fire at a home in the 100 block of 105th Street West in Sutherland which caused an estimated $5,000 in damage.
