Referring to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, Saskatoon Churchill-Wildwood MLA Lisa Lambert said, “By installing these new signs, SaskEnergy is demonstrating its commitment to building meaningful, long-term relationships with Indigenous groups and communities.”
The messages are preventative and solution focused building on two of the Crown Corporation’s core safety messages of ‘dig safely’ and ‘If you smell natural gas’ to evacuate and call SaskEnergy.
Whitecap Dakota First Nation Chief Darcy Bear congratulated the artist, Jade Roberts, on the design and noted that SaskEnergy had provided natural gas capacity to the First Nation since the mid 1980’s. SaskEnergy says installation of the remaining signs at the other First Nations will be complete this fall.
