
The Saskatoon Police Service says there was a fatal accident Sunday afternoon in the 900 block of Spadina Crescent East. The accident involving a motorcycle occurred around 4 p.m. at Spadina Crescent and the University Bridge underpass. Police say a motorcycle is believed to have been operated at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control hitting a guardrail and a light standard. The 41-year driver suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The Saskatoon Police Collision Analyst Unit is continuing to investigate.
Highway #6 re-opened Sunday morning after an accident involving a southbound truck and northbound transit van. The driver of the van, a 60-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 25-year-old driver for the truck was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries. Both drivers were from the Melfort Detachment area. A collision reconstructionist continues to investigate. RCMP were called to the accident a few minutes before midnight on Saturday approximately 3 kilometres north of Melfort.
Meanwhile, Saskatoon Police Service Major Crimes Section as well as the Collision Analyst Unit and Forensic Identification Section are investigating a fatal accident that occurred early Saturday morning in Saskatoon. At approximately 3:12 a.m. officers responded to reports of a deceased male located on Warman Road near Circle Drive. The investigation indicates a car was travelling northbound on Warman Road when it collided with a man riding an electric scooter. The 25-year-old man operating the scooter died from his injuries. The 38-year-old male driver of the car was arrested and is facing charges relating to fleeing the scene of an accident, operate a motor vehicle while impaired and operate a motor vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding .08 causing death.
