The Canada West University Conference officially unveiled the 2024-25 regular season schedules for men’s and women’s hockey on Tuesday.
On Friday, October 4, the Huskies will return to regular-season play with the Huskie men hosting Regina while the U of S women are on the road in Regina. Following are news releases from Huskie Athletics…..

Canada West Announces 2024-25 Women’s Hockey
Schedule
SASKATOON, SK – On October 4, the Huskie women’s hockey team will make their 2024-
25 return to the ice as they take on the Regina Cougars on the road.
Throughout the 2024-25 regular season Merlis Belsher Place will play host to the Regina
Cougars, Calgary Dinos, Alberta Pandas (twice), Manitoba Bison, MacEwan Griffins, and
see the Huskies take on the defending conference champion UBC Thunderbirds. THe
last time the Dogs took on the Thunderbirds came in the Consolation Final of the 2024
U SPORTS Championships in Saskatoon.
On the road the Huskies will see the Mount Royal Cougars, Trinity Western Spartans,
Regina Cougars, Griffins, Bisons (twice), and Pandas.
The 2024-25 Canada West postseason features a new format which will see playoff
seeding determined by division. The top three teams from the East and West division
will see playoff action with the top seed receiving a bye through to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, the remaining four teams will face off in a quarter-final crossover featuring
a best-of-three series. Following the a pair of semifinal series the remaining two teams
will face off in a best-of-three Canada West Championship from March 7-9. The best
teams across the nation will then head to Waterloo, Ontario for the 2025 U SPORTS
Women’s Hockey Championships, hosted by the University of Waterloo.
Before the Huskies officially kick off the regular season they will head on the road for
exhibition games in Swift Current, Yorkton, and Kindersely in addition to hosting a pre-
season tournament from September 20-22.

SASKATOON, SK – Canada West men’s hockey is set to return on October 4 for the 2024-
25 season, with the Huskies hosting the Regina Cougars to kick off the new campaign.
Throughout the 2024-25 regular season Merlis Belsher Place will play host to the Regina
Cougars, Mount Royal Cougars, Trinity Western Spartans, MacEwan Griffins, Manitoba
Bisons (twice), and a rivalry weekend against Alberta Golden Bears on January 24 and
25.
On the road the Huskies will see the Calgary Dinos, Golden Bears (twice), Bisons,
Griffins and take on the defending conference champion UBC Thunderbirds in the
penultimate week of the regular season.

Prior to the regular season the Huskies will embark on an extensive preseason schedule
featuring games in Calgary, Big River (SK), Cold Lake (AB), and a trio of home games
against Manitoba (Sept. 14), Minot State (Sept. 19), and Briercrest (Sept. 21). The Dogs
will also host a pair of non-conference games over the winter break with Red Deer Polytechnic visiting Saskatoon on January 4 and 5.
