Mother Nature threw a curveball at weather forecasters in June—with well above normal precipitation and below normal temperatures.
Environment Canada meteorologist Terri Lang says Saskatoon’s monthly mean temperature was 1.9 degrees below normal and Prince Albert was 2.6 degrees below normal. Saskatoon had the 19th coldest June in the last 127 years, while Prince Albert was the 8th coldest in 137 years.
As for rainfall, Saskatoon had 112 millimetres and Prince Albert 121 millimetres. That puts Saskatoon at the 18th wettest June and Prince Alberta at the 15th wettest. Lang notes some locations in Saskatchewan received over 200 millimetres in June, citing an area near Kindersley as one example.
