The Government of Saskatchewan announced Tuesday two RFP’s or Request for Proposals will be issued this month geared to adding more adult Intensive Care Unit capacity at Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital. The RFPs will advance the design phase for the expansion.
This is part of the second phase of a multi-year strategy that will work on expanding the actual physical space at RUH to accommodate bed capacity for up to 26 ICU patients. In a news release the government says the long-term goal is to continue to expand ICU space at RUH through the addition of individual rooms.
Health Minister Everett Hindley said. “Enhancing capacity within an ICU is complex and requires extensive planning to address construction, health human resource needs, beds and equipment.”
