It’s my Parting Shot for the return of The Fearless Predictor and his weekly C-F-L picks…..
Well, if I was going to only get one game predicted correctly in Week 16, I’m glad it was the Riders winning in Calgary. On to Week 17…
…and the start of a Friday Night Football doubleheader with a re-match of Edmonton and Winnipeg – this time in the Manitoba capital. The 8-6 Blue Bombers have won six straight to take over first place in the West while the Elks are three points out of a playoff spot with their 5-9 mark. Tre Ford was ineffective at quarterback last week for Edmonton, so McLeod Bethel-Thompson gets to try this week against a stout Winnipeg defence. I’m saying Bombers by more than a field goal!
The second game Friday has 5-9 Hamilton traveling to Vancouver to play 7-7 B-C in a battle of the Cats! Don’t look now, but the Tiger-Cats are only three points back of Saskatchewan for a potential cross-over playoff spot! They’ve also won three-in-a-row, which is a long-enough winning streak. I’m saying B-C by less than a field goal!
On Saturday, the C-T-V game has the Roughriders at home against Ottawa. The Green and White are coming off a badly-needed win while the RedBlacks are turning to Jeremiah Masoli at quarterback with Dru Brown out due to injury. While fit to be tied a few weeks back in the Nation’s Capital, it says here that the Riders waltz to a win by more than 10 points!
The last game of the weekend is Montreal at Toronto. Neither team has been awe-inspiring of recent – outside of Winnipeg, that is true for all C-F-L teams at this juncture of the season! But, the Alouettes are the beasts of the East and will prove it by less than a touchdown at B-MO Field!
The one out of four Week 16 was a bitter pill to swallow, mostly because it left me with a season record of 36-25-2…or 58.7 per cent! Less than 60 per cent is a failing grade in my books!! Hopefully, this situation is temporary!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
