The City of Saskatoon has installed a bike box at the intersection where Natasha Fox was hit and killed by a cement truck.
In a news release the City of Saskatoon says the bike box on Wiggins Avenue at the intersection of College Drive is intended to provide greater visibility and reduce conflict points between vehicles and cyclists.
The bike box gives cyclists a designated space at the front of the traffic queue. As well there is now signage indicating “no right turn on red” for northbound drivers making a right turn onto College Drive.
A reduced speed limit of 30 km/h on Wiggins Avenue from 50 metres south of Elliot Street to College Drive will take effect on September 30th and there is a painted bike lane for Wiggins Avenue northbound between Elliot Street and College Drive.
The accident that claimed Natasha Fox’s life occurred May 24th, 2023. The 33-year-old had been biking with her two children at the time. The children weren’t injured. No charges were laid in the accident.
