Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.com says the national average price of gasoline saw a slight rise in the last week, because of Iran’s attack on Israel, leading oil prices to surge to the highest level in months.
He also points out that in addition to the escalation in the Middle East, hurricane season remains active, with Hurricane Milton now heading toward the United States so for now, motorists in most areas can expect to see more increases in gas prices primarily due to tensions in the Middle East. However De Haan says he does remain hopeful that a national average price for regular unleaded could fall below 1.35 c/L.
Average retail gasoline prices in Saskatoon have fallen 2.6 c/L in the past week, averaging 147.30 c/L yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 81 gas outlets in Saskatoon. This compares with the national average that has increased 1.8 c/L in the last week to 148.52 c/L, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
