The man who took his five-day-old baby from a home on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation, triggering an Amber Alert, will not be charged at this time.
On Thursday just before 2 p.m. Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP initially received a report that a five-day-old baby had been taken from a home on Montreal Lake Cree Nation by his father.
Subsequent investigation led to Saskatchewan RCMP determining the incident met the criteria for the issuance of an Amber Alert. The alert was issued at approximately 5:08 p.m.
. Shortly after the Amber Alert was issued, the father turned himself in to police at the Big River RCMP detachment with the baby. The infant appeared healthy and safe however EMS was called to assess him as a precaution.
Although not being charged for this event, the man did appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court yesterday morning on one charge of assault and one charge of assault by choking in connection to a recent incident on Montreal Lake Cree Nation. The victim was a woman who reported non-life-threatening injuries to police.
