A 32-year-old woman from the R-M of Blucher was to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court Monday after being arrested and charged following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 11 Saturday evening resulted in two fatalities.
Brittany Barry has been charged with two counts each of operating a conveyance while impaired over 80 milligrams causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, operating a conveyance while impaired over 80 milligrams causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm. The incident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on October 19 when a truck and an S-U-V collided in the southbound lanes of Highway 11, one kilometre north of Dundurn. The truck, driven by Brittany Barry with two children as occupants, was driving northbound in the southbound lanes. The 50-year-old female driver and 20-year-old female passenger of the S-U-V, both from Lake Isle, Alberta, were declared deceased at the scene by E-M-S. The two children were taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Brittany Barry did not report injuries to Saskatoon RCMP officers and was arrested at the scene. The highway was closed for about six hours during the initial investigation. Saskatoon RCMP believes there are witnesses to this collision whom they have yet to speak to as the investigation continues. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who stopped at the scene, but have not yet spoken to police, are asked to contact the Saskatoon RCMP.
