Meewasin Valley Authority is continuing with prescribed fires around Saskatoon today with the expectation it will last until Friday.
A joint news release from the Meewasin Valley Authority and the Canadian Prairie Fire Exchange says safety is the top priority, so fires will only proceed under optimal conditions, with strict safety protocols in place including fire guards, water supplies, and a team of trained professionals, including wildland firefighters on site.
The area that was designated for a prescribed burn today between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Aberdeen Community Pasture. If conditions hold, fires may also be conducted at the Northeast Swale, Beaver Creek Conservation Area, and/or St. Denis National Wildlife Area. The affected site(s) will be closed to the public in the interest of safety.
