There were 273,010 residents who cast an early ballot in the first five days of Voting Week. That’s compared to 184,000 in 2020. The sixth and final day to vote is today. Elections Saskatchewan doesn’t refer to today as election day rather the last day of voting week. Voting locations open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The first preliminary count starts immediately at 8 p.m. and all of the votes are counted by hand.
Elections Saskatchewan will first count all the in-person ballots, and then for the second count on October 30th, the vote by mail ballots are counted. The final count is on November 9th which is when all previous counts are reviewed and they count any additional vote-by-mail ballots received after October 26, in addition to all the votes cast from hospitals, remand facilities, and temporarily displaced voters.
The 2024 Provincial Election has more than 810,000 registered voters, 243 candidates in 61 constituencies, and 56 total hours of voting at 882 voting locations, and Elections Saskatchewan extended voting hours this year. There are also 369 licensed care homes registered as voting locations. More than 32,000 voters registered to vote by mail.
To help reduce transportation barriers to voting for both the provincial and civic elections, Saskatoon Transit will provide a special pass for free transit service so voters can get to their polls and cast a ballot in the provincial election.
You can find the free pass at SaskatoonTransit.ca or pick one up at the Transit Customer Service Centre, City Hall, Civic Leisure Centres or a Saskatoon Public Library.
A printed pass is not required; electronic versions on mobile phones will be accepted. Simply show a printed, downloaded, picture, or screenshot version of the pass to the operator upon boarding.
The pass can be used multiple times on fixed-route, OnDemand and Access Transit and will expire at the end of the day.
