The Swift Current Municipal RCMP is looking for two men wanted in two serious assault investigations. Last Friday (Oct 25th), officers responded to a report of a gun being shot during an altercation on Herbert Street. No injuries were reported to police.
Then on Tuesday around 6 a.m., the Municipal RCMP responded to a break and enter at a home and were told multiple people entered with a firearm and assaulted two people inside. The firearm was not discharged. The suspects stole cash and a vehicle. The vehicle was recovered shortly afterward, but the suspects haven’t yet been found. Police believe these two incidents are connected and have issued warrants for their arrests.
Both 35-year-old Nicholas Belanger of Medicine Hat and 28-year-old Mathew Neufeld of Swift Current are facing charges that include break and enter, assault causing bodily harm and theft both over and under $5,000. Belanger has additional charges including robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, and dangerously discharging a firearm. Investigators believe the two could be in the Swift Current or Medicine Hat areas.
