Two Saskatoon high schools collected nearly 15,000 kilograms or 32,673 pounds of food last week to assist lower income families.
The “Halloweening for Hunger” event has been going on for 19 years. Students from St. Joseph’s High School and Bishop James Mahoney High School went to homes collecting non perishable items for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
St. Joseph’s High School collected 7,560 kg (16,667 lbs) of food, while Bishop James Mahoney contributed 7,260 kg (16,006 lbs) of food.
The students also give credit to Rosenau Transport, which provided drivers and a 40-foot power tailgate trailer to collect the donations and bring them to the Food Bank.
