The winner of the $1.6 million grand prize show home in Edgemont Park Estates, Chirag Patel, was handed the keys today, as the 2024 edition of the Hospital Home Lottery wrapped up.
Lecina Hicke, Chair of this year’s lotto, says everyone who purchased a Hospital Home Lottery ticket is supporting health care efforts at St. Paul’s, Saskatoon City, and Royal University hospitals. For example, St. Paul’s Hospital will put its funds toward the By Your Side Kidney Care Campaign. “You are helping us to provide proactive, patient-centered, holistic care measures to kidney health patients which is just a really huge gift,” Hicke states.
Rob Bubnick of Corman Park was another lucky winner. He’s going home with $594,450 after winning the 50/50 draw. Bubnick says supporting the local community means more to him than the prize money. “We purchase the tickets to support the local community. At the same time, we always hoped that we could win the grand prize, as well, but it’s a really good cause, and that’s the number one reason why we purchase the tickets…I’ve been buying the tickets for quite a while now.” He adds that the majority of his winnings will be going to his children.
