The 26th season for Saskatoon’s Christmas light show kicks off tonight with the first of two nights for the Saskatchewan Blue Cross Light Walk
Hugh Vassos with BHP Enchanted Forest says it’s a huge undertaking.
“The crew has been setting up the display since September. We’re well over a couple million lights now and we have well over 75-80 displays.”
Vassos says the theme this year is “Where Tree Tops Glisten”. He says they are going to unveil some new clusters of trees wrapped in lights, there’s more displays and a longer display route.
Friday night will also be a light walk, and the drive thru gets underway on Saturday with the Enchanted Forest open every night until January 5th. Money raised goes to the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation and the Saskatoon Zoo Foundation. It has raised more than $6 million for the two charities since inception and last year a new attendance record was set.
For the light walks no vehicles or pets allowed and you can park nearby or drop off and pick up near the front gate. There is hot chocolate available in the hall, first come, first served.
Car passes are available at all Saskatoon and Warman Shoppers Drug Marts and Saskatoon Co-op Food Stores and Gas Bars plus Warman, Martensville, Watrous, Colonsay, Dalmeny, Hepburn, Rosthern, Vonda and Waldheim. Buy them early for $30 and save on gate admission.
