It doesn’t appear the City of Saskatoon will be moving into neighbourhoods to get rid of snow.
The City of Saskatoon says the area received 25 cm of snow which can be the trigger for snow clearing city wide, it would cost 18 to 20 million dollars and because the snow was light powder snow, right at the threshold, it isn’t enough to activate the Roadways Emergency Response Plan.
City officials say current assessments show acceptable mobility across Saskatoon and their crews will continue to monitor local streets so they can affect improvement if needed.
All Priority 1 streets have been cleared, and some Priority 2 streets have been started, with all priority routes expected to be fully graded by Thursday morning. Snow removal from priority streets, downtown and school zones will be the next major objective. And the City of Saskatoon urges residents to not shovel their snow onto streets further compounding mobility issues in neighbourhoods.
