Students in Saskatoon and area are having a snow day.
Classes are cancelled today for school in the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School division, the Prairie Spirit School division as well as Saskatoon Public Schools.
Due to the extreme snowfall and to ensure the safety of students and staff as well as aid in road clearing measures, there will not be school Monday.
All three school divisions anticipate it will be back to class Tuesday but will provide an update today. Also, due to the heavy snowfall, the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre will be closed on Monday November 25th.
The City of Saskatoon says the city received 25 centimetres of snow which is in addition to the 17 centimetres earlier in the week. Overnight 36 graders, 15 sanders, 11 plows and five sidewalk plows were working on freeways and major arterials as well as some of the bus routes. Once the grading is done, the next priority will be removing snow from downtown and school zones.
The City of Saskatoon asks residents to stay home if they can so snow crews can make more progress clearing roads with fewer vehicles out.
