The men’s overnight warming location opens tonight (Mon) at St. Mary’s on Avenue O South. It is operated by the Salvation Army and is open nightly from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. The women’s overnight warming spot opened last month at the Saskatoon Indian and Metis Friendship Centre, and it’s open 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. The SIMFC on Wall Street is also the evening warming location for everyone, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Additional overnight outreach services are operated by the Saskatoon Tribal Council’s outreach teams. Last week, the new City Council approved $200,000 to support the $1.2 million Winter navigation and Warming Centres capital project.
The rest of the funding was from other levels of government, local community organizations and private contributions.
