I got a Chinese fortune cookie the other day and the little slip of paper inside started with, “Charite Bien ordonee….” No, wait…that’s the French side. The English message was, “It is impossible to please everybody. Please yourself first”. I thought, good advice. I love little encouraging sayings that have a ring of truth and common sense, even more so as I get older. Here’s one, “The bad news is, time flies. The good news is, you’re the pilot. And here’s a few more: “Turn your wounds into wisdom”. “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few moments, including you”. “Choose to be optimistic. It feels better”. “You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”. “Once you face your fear, nothing is ever as hard as you think”. “The secret of getting ahead is getting started”. “For every minute you are angry you lose 60 seconds of happiness”. “Nothing in the world is as contagious as laughter and good humour”. “It isn’t where you came from, its where you’re going that counts”. I like this one,” You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream”. How about this old one,” Early to bed and early to rise makes you healthy, wealthy and wise”. And then there’s my take, “If you want to be healthy, wealthy and wise, go to bed early and advertise”.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
