As many people are heading home for the holidays, CAA is providing tips for how to stay safe on the roads.
Angel Blair with CAA says it is important to check the weather and Highway Hotline before leaving your house. Packing a roadside assistance bag can also be beneficial if you get stuck. This would include a shovel, a phone charger, snacks, water, cables, an ice scraper and a blanket. If you don’t want to make your own, you can buy one from CAA.
“There’s actually two different sizes, and you’d be surprised at what they can pack in there. a foldable shovel, there’s a blanket, there’s flares. There’s lots of things, and they’re available at every CAA store.”
She advises motorists to leave with a full tank of gas, both to add weight and add peace of mind.
If you do get stuck or your vehicle quits, she says CAA has someone available to answer the phone 24/7, 365 days a year.
