Saskatchewan remains a “have” province according to the Government of Canada. In a letter to the province from the new Finance Minister, it outlines total major transfers to Saskatchewan for 2025-26 will round to $2.2 billion, an increase of $83 million from 2024-25 but the province is not eligible for an equalization payment.
Saskatchewan is joined by Alberta and B.C. as a “have” provinces while Quebec receives the biggest piece of the pie qualifying for an equalization payment to the tune of $13.6 million for 2025-26.
