The search continues for 29-year-old Glenn Halkett who escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert on New Year’s Eve.
Halkett was spotted by officers on patrol in the community of Little Red River around 11am on New Year’s Day. He was leaving a residence in a vehicle and did not stop when police emergency lights were activated. The vehicle accelerated and hit the side of the police crusier. The officers were not injured, but the police vehicle was damaged.
The suspect vehicle was located later in the day, but Halkett was no longer with it.
Halkett is now facing additional charges of flight from a peace officer, dangerous driving and driving while prohibited. An updated photo has been released, but officers indicate his hair is longer.
The public is advised not to approach Halkett and to contact RCMP or Police if he is spotted. He was serving a 2-year 9-month sentence for various theft and weapons charges.
