The trial for two women charged with first degree murder in the death of Megan Gallagher begins this morning (Mon). Both Summer Sky-Henry and Cheyann Peeteetuce have pleaded not guilty. Gallagher was 30-years-old when she was last seen by her family in September of 2020. Her body wasn’t found until two years later when remains were located along the bank of the South Saskatchewan River near St. Louis.
Nine people were charged in the investigation, but Robert Tyler John’s charges of unlawful confinement and aggravated assault were stayed.
Last October, Robert Thomas pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced in December to life in jail with no possibility of parole for 18 years. He was originally charged with first degree murder in September of 2022. John Sanderson, Jessica Badger, and Ernest Whitehead pleaded guilty to indignity to human remains. Roderick William Sutherland is charged with first degree murder in Megan Gallagher’s death and Thomas Sutherland is charged with manslaughter.
