A sad end to the search for 50-year-old Orlando Okemaysim. His body was located on Wednesday. Prince Albert RCMP indicate the death is not believed to be suspicious. Okemaysim had been last seen on Christmas Day.
The Sturgeon Lake First Nation also announced that the search for 50-year-old Orlando Okeymaysim from the Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation has come to a “heartbreaking” end. In a news release SLFN Chief Christine Longjohn said, “This loss is felt across our communities, and we are grateful to everyone who came together in support of the search efforts.”
Searchers found Orlando Okeymaysim deceased in Sturgeon Lake First Nation after he went missing on Christmas Day. Chief Longjohn also expressed gratitude to the RCMP, Prince Albert Grand Council, Saskatchewan First Nations Emergency Management (SFNEM), and thededicated search teams from Stanley Mission, File Hills Qu’Appelle (FHQ), and Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation as well as all the volunteers who gave their time during the holidays to help with the search.
And SLFN also gave a special acknowledgment to Vernon and Linda Daniels, who showed kindness to Orlando by giving him boots and socks. The Sturgeon Lake First Nation is located about 30 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.
