For those who occasionally send a letter or pay bills by mail, the price for a stamp went up Monday. Canada Post announced in September that the cost of stamps would increase in January.
It’s about a 25 per cent increase with a single stamp rising 29 cents to $1.44. If you by stamps in a booklet, coil or pane, it’s a 25-cent increase to $1.24 per stamp.
Canada Post says in a news release that the rates better align the price with the rising cost of providing letter mail service, pointing out that every year there are fewer letters to deliver to more addresses.
