Bear spray incidents aren’t abating in Saskatoon. The Saskatoon Police Service says from Friday evening to just before 1 a.m. Monday morning, officers responded to six different incidents.
The first was at Confederation Mall. Police were told two suspects deployed bear spray into the entrance, aiming at someone before fleeing.
The victim didn’t require medical attention. About an hour-and-a-half later, police responded to an apartment in the 200 block of Avenue N, where a woman was suffering the effects of bear spray. The suspect and victim are believed to have known each other.
Then at 2 a.m. Saturday, the Police Service responded to the Travelodge and heard that a security guard questioned to people in the parking lot, who then sprayed bear spray towards him before fleeing. About an hour later, police were dispatched to the hotel again and were told two teens deployed bear spray at two people in the lobby and then left. When they arrived, several people were found suffering from bear spray.
Around 11 the next night, police responded to the 10 block of Westview Place on Davidson Crescent where a suspect smashed a window and deployed bear spray into a home and then took off. A few hours later, just before 1 Monday morning, Patrol officers responded to a convenience store in the 1500 block of 22nd Street West where two males approached the store but were refused entry. Police say they broke a window and deployed bear spray and then fled. Two employees were found suffering from the effects of bear spray.
