Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre says Canada should drop long-standing trade barriers between provinces to lessen the impact of US trade uncertainties.

Sylvain Charlebois is known as the ‘Food Professor’ for his work at Dalhousie University in Halifax monitoring supermarket and food production trends. He is in complete agreement with Poilievre saying inter-provincial barriers should have been scrapped years ago.

Charlebois says the Canadian food and ag sector has done well under the current tri-lateral trade agreement with the United States and Mexico.

The personal relationship between U.S President Donald Trump and outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is strained at best.
