Not in the last 26 years has there been an S-J-H-L team located in, or within a 30-minute radius of Saskatoon’s city limits.
But, that could change this fall!
The S-J-H-L’s Board of Governors has conditionally approved the relocation of the Notre Dame Hounds to Warman for the 2025-2026 season. The relocation is contingent upon approval by Warman City Council and a successful season ticket and corporate sponsorship drive in the community. All Hounds list and active players will move with to franchise to Warman. According to an S-J-H-L news release, the decision to end the Hounds’ Junior A programming was made by Notre Dame’s board of directors. The move ends four decades of a Notre Dame entry in the S-J-H-L. The league says a plan must be presented to transition ownership from Warman team co-founders Cory Kachur and Jonathan Abrametz to the community within a five-year period. The last Saskatoon and area team in the S-J-H-L was the Saskatoon Rage, who folded in 1999.
