
The Saskatoon Police Service continues to respond to public bear spray incidents. In a 12-hour period, from 3:30 Wednesday afternoon to around 3 this morning (Thurs), officers responded to three more incidents.
The first one on Wednesday afternoon was at the bus terminal in the 200 block of 23rd Street East. Officers were told several youths responsible for the bear spray attack had boarded a bus afterwards. When getting on the bus, police noticed a person matching the suspect’s description. Officers report he had bear spray on him and there were also some outside on the ground. A 16-year-old is facing charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon.
Around 8:30 Wednesday night, police arrived at business in the 900 block of 22nd Street West where it was reported there was an altercation between a group of people and bear spray was discharged. A man standing outside the building was identified. Police located two canisters of bear spray and a large knife. A 30-year-old man is facing charges two counts each of possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon.
In the third incident at 3 Thursday morning (Thurs), police were called back to the same business and were told a woman had been bear sprayed. She was treated on scene by paramedics. The suspect fled and hasn’t yet been located.
