Ice fishing shacks in Saskatchewan must be removed by today in all areas south of Highway 16 and by March 31st in northern regions of the province.
The Government of Saskatchewan says deteriorating ice conditions can make it dangerous to retrieve shelters later in the season.
Failure to remove shelters by the deadlines can also lead to hefty fines and the confiscation of the structures and their contents. Abandoned shelters pose unnecessary risks to everyone who enjoys Saskatchewan lakes in the summer and to the wildlife. Shelters can also not be left on the shore.
