A popular street in Saskatoon is expected to undergo some major changes in the next few years.
Saskatoon Special Projects Manager Rob Dudiak says College Drive will be a key corridor in the city’s new transit system, recently dubbed Link.
“It’s in close proximity to the hospitals, the University of Saskatchewan, and of course the future Sask. Polytech campus, as well.”
So far, the city has constructed eight concrete bus-stop platforms across the city, with 44 more expected to be built over the span of this summer.
Saskatoon residents wanting to learn more about Link are encouraged to attend one of five public engagement sessions taking place this week.
Dudiak says on between March 17th and 19th, the public can head to either Merlis Belsher Place, Royal University Hospital, or Plac Riel on the USask campus to view renderings and have their questions answered by city staff.
“We’re going to have some renderings, street level, what we think the new College Drive will look like. Everything from Clarence Avenue to Preston, top-down drawings, and we’ll have some select views of specific intersections. We will also have people to answer questions and discuss.”
He adds that it’s been a while since any public engagement has been conducted on the topic.
“As far as larger public view, we haven’t really had that much since late 2018 before the routing choices were made by City Council in 2019.”
Dudiak suspects Link will be fully operational by 2028.
