The Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship starts today and runs through Friday in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. A total of 32 duos are taking part, split into four pools of eight couples each for round-robin preliminary play, followed by 12 teams in the playoffs with the four pool winners advancing directly to the quarter-final round. Among the 32 duos are the Saskatchewan champions Christie Gamble and Matthew Lang from Langenburg in Pool A, Nancy Martin and Steve Laycock from Martensville plus Laura Walker of Edmonton and Kirk Muyres of Humboldt in Pool C. Draws today go at 3 and 6 p.m.
The Under-20 Mixed Doubles Provincial Curling Championships continue and wind up today in Watrous. The field of 16 duos is down to eight for the straight knockout playoffs. Today’s draws go at 9 a.m., 12:30 and 4 p.m.
