Two men are facing 18 weapons-related charges after they fled from members of the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) on Friday night.
An SPS news release says officers, along with the Air Support Unit (ASU), spotted a white S-U-V in the area of Avenue P South and 20th Street West at about 11:30 p.m. on March 14th. The white S-U-V traveled at high rates of speed as it headed north out of the city. Police on board, with technology available to them on the plane, noticed that the occupants of the vehicle were tossing items as they evaded pursuing officers – items that were later determined to be a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition and bear spray (pictured). Stop sticks were successfully deployed by the RCMP south of Blaine Lake with the two men, aged 26 and 33, taken into custody. The 26-year-old driver was charged with dangerous driving and fail to stop while both men were charged with possession of stolen property over five thousand dollars, possession of prohibited firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of firearm, careless use of a firearm, tampering with serial number, possession of dangerous weapon, unauthorized possession in motor vehicle and possession contrary to order.
