
Photo speed enforcement in Saskatoon resulted in 55,270 tickets in 2024. That’s the most in the last five years. The five-year average is 31,841. The data is available in a report going to the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners Thursday.
There 29,605 issued for speeding on Circle Drive while 25,665 were handed out in school zones. Now that is photo speed enforcement, 3,812 speeding tickets were given out by actual officers. There were 41 drivers caught exceeding the speed limit by over 50 km/hr, 140 were over the speed limit by 35 to 50 km/hr, 771 were found to be driving while disqualified or suspended, 1128 tickets were issued for unregistered vehicles, and 766 seatbelt related tickets were issued in 2024.
In terms of neighbourhoods, there were 1,206 traffic tickets handed out in the Central Business District. That was the most in any one area. But the North Industrial wasn’t far behind at 1,109, followed by University Heights Development area at 671, Wildwood at 591 and rounding out the top five was Caswell Hill at 425.
