
Prime Minister Mark Carney made the election call late Sunday morning—just two weeks after being chosen leader of the Liberal Party.
The main election issue will be Canada’s fractured relationship with the United States and the possibility of widespread US tariffs, which could come as soon as April 2nd.
All parties will be taking strong stands against U.S. President Donald Trump and it will be up to Canadians to decide which party can lead the country forward into turbulent times.

The Liberals have been recently adopting some Conservative platforms, such as getting rid of the consumer portion of the carbon tax, as well as a new promise of a middle-class tax cut.
The NDP says it is prepared for the election and will run a strong slate of candidates. It states this is the first time in a decade the NDP will spend the maximum amount allowed under Election Canada’s limits.
The April 28th election is being called about six month prior to the end of the government’s four-year mandate—but the Opposition parties have been asking for a vote since last fall.
All 14 Saskatchewan constituencies are currently held by the Conservatives.
