With a federal election approaching, Grain Growers of Canada is encouraging producers to ensure their voices are heard.
The GGC launched a Vote for Grain Campaign yesterday, as a way to urge farmers to talk with their local candidates about issues facing the agriculture sector today, including trade uncertainty with the U.S. and China, the carbon tax, and the capital gains tax increase.
In a written release, Kyle Larkin, Executive Director of GGC says “Political parties need to hear directly from farmers about the policies that will shape their livelihoods.”
The campaign is easily accessible and user friendly with a click-and-send tool that allows farmers to select and contact the candidates in their region. It’s available at www.VoteforGrain.ca. The GGC will also issue a questionnaire to political parties to clarify their positions on key issues and will update the website accordingly.
