The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety reports the death of an inmate at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre.
In a news release the government says a 29-year-old man was found unresponsive in a unit at approximately 11:28 a.m. last Tuesday, March 18th.
Corrections staff initiated life saving measures and called EMS which transported the inmate to hospital. The man passed away in hospital five days later, on Sunday, at 11:51 a.m.
While the government says no foul play is suspected, the Saskatoon Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service have been notified and are investigating.
As well, the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will be conducting an internal investigation.
