Just when we thought we were in the clear, city crews are preparing to respond to another winter storm.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement that suggests by 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, snow will begin to fly in Saskatoon. Residents can expect 10-20 centimetres of snow before Friday arrives, alongside some gusting winds and reduced visibility. Freezing rain is also possible with this system, which comes in from Alberta.
Roadway crews are bracing to address snow and ice along priority streets, ramps, bridges and busy intersections. A release from the city says the strong winds may blow sand and salt off treated surfaces, potentially leading to icy spots.
If you aren’t able to stay home tomorrow, drivers are reminded to slow down, leave a safe distance between vehicles, plan for needing extra travel time, and ensure you give road maintenance vehicle operators plenty of space to work safely.
