Close to 100 rural Saskatchewan cell sites were connected to SaskTel’s 5G network on Wednesday as part of an expansion.
Several communities and highway corridors included in the expansion are Big River, Cabri, Cypress Hills, Kyle, Pelly, Lucky Lake, Punnichy, Raymore, Ponteix, Val Marie, Zenon Park, Wadena and Whitecap Dakota First Nation.
SaskTel says right now, its 5G network can deliver data speeds of up to 1.2 Gigabits per second, and users can expect significantly faster speeds as the network matures.
Other benefits that come with the future of 5G will include massive network capacity and ultra-low latency.
