If you need to get fuel for your vehicle you may want to wait a day, according to Gasbuddy.com. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy says, “With the upcoming pause on the federal carbon tax, Canadians can expect to see gas prices begin to fall as early as 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday. While some stations may need time to reprogram their systems to remove the carbon tax, most should reflect the drop fairly quickly.”
And just because the carbon tax is paused doesn’t mean the full 17.6 cents per litre reduction will be immediately visible everywhere. He points out gasoline is nearing the completion of the transition to more expensive, cleaner-burning summer blends, and if oil prices rise due to tariffs or other economic uncertainty, those factors could offset some of the expected decline.
In Saskatoon the average retail gasoline prices have fallen 0.2 c/L in the past week, averaging 153.02 c/L Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 81 gas outlets in Saskatoon.
